The Genal valley

This route is designed for clients staying on the Costa del Sol, it is an ideal for a trip from Estepona, Sotogrande or Marbella.

After picking up customers in their accommodation, a scenic road will take us to the Natural Area of ​​the Sierra of Bermeja. Here the views are spectacular and you can see much of the western Costa del Sol, the Bay of Algeciras, Gibraltar and North Africa. It is a place of great geological and botanical interest. The landscape is characterized by the presence of peridotite rocks and fir trees.

The next stop is in Genalguacil, a town that retains all its charm and where Art Encounters are held every two years. Throughout the twelve exhibitions held the town has been converted into an open-air Museum of Contemporary Art. Dozens of work of art are scattered through its streets and squares which surprise the traveller in every nook and corner.

The route continues and a forest track will take us to the Genal River. This area enjoys a very suitable climate for the growth of orange, chestnut, cork and walnut trees. The cultivation of the orchard is still done in terraces which were created in the times of Al Andalus.

To enjoy the traditional cuisine of the area, lunch is at the Kábilas Restaurant in Benarrabá. The best seasonal ingredients and attention to detail result in dishes for all tastes. From mid-spring to early autumn you can enjoy a swim in a pool next to the restaurant after lunch.

On the way back we will make a stop in Gaucín to visit the “Arrabalete” and go up to the Castillo del Águila to enjoy the views and visit the Sanctuary of the Santo Niño.

The tour ends at your accommodation, and you will have enjoyed a day where Nature, Art and Gastronomy are mixed.
